This project brings together young people from different countries. “I will learn to live in a multicultural group and I’ll get the chance to learn about Japanese culture. This adventure will enrich my teaching skills and will positively influence my discussions with young people regarding open-mindedness, tolerance and reaching out to people.”
Experience out of the ordinaryThis Japanese challenge hold significance for Stéphanie ? “I wanted to embark on a major project before turning 30. I am the only child and I have never lived with a group for such a long time. It’s my first volunteer experience in a community other than my own and is related to my profession as teacher. The work will last 10 intensive days but I’ll be brave enough to arrive eight days early and to take my return flight home six days later. This is my first time in Asia and I don’t speak Japanese. We will be 10 volunteers from all over the world and I’d like to show them my cooking skills. I won’t deprive them of our maple syrup and the chance to discover our mysterious “poutine.” I will bring some syrup and a St. Hubert poutine sauce. “At 11 years old, I spent two weeks in England and I travelled with friends to France, Spain, Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico and the United States.”
