On November 19, 2008, a five-year old girl suffered a cardiac arrest in the Aquadôme swimming pool. Lifeguard Frédéric Côté took steps to revive the young victim. His colleague Maude Corbeil did everything to comfort the child while giving her the oxygen she needed to return to her normal condition. Last September, Frédéric and Maude were invited by the Société de sauvetage to a ceremony for Citations en Sauvetage, (rescue citations) at the Police Institute in Nicolet. On November 19, 2008, many groups of children were at the Aquadôme and the wading pool was full. Suddenly, a companion arrived with a five-year old girl whose body was not moving. Frédéric Côté performed resuscitation on the girl. Maude Corbeil helped Frédéric by giving oxygen to the little girl while he pumped her heart. This team work revived the little girl but she was not talking and was in a state of shock. Finally, the ambulance arrived. Later that evening, the lifeguards were much relieved when they learned that the girl was safe and sound at the hospital.
