Mayor Manon Barbe informed residents: “We worked hard to fulfill our commitment to reduce expenses and decrease the tax burden without sacrificing quality in local services. We delivered on our promises by maintaining a 7.4% budget reduction so we could reduce local taxes by $4.7 million in 2010. Maintaining the budget at a level where we are now will be as demanding as the effort we have already exerted to reduce it.” “The economic crisis has slowed down construction projects. In spite of the initial indicators of a recovery, budget-wise, we will no doubt feel the effects of this major economic crisis for a few more years. We will work at innovating projects that are oriented towards sustainable development and with a focus towards the future. We will keep all LaSalle residents well-informed about budget solutions that we intend to promote for wealth creation.”
