Jennifer Tinkler is a 28-year old LaSalle resident who isn’t at all afraid; she’s preparing to take up two major challenges this summer. On July 10-11, she will participate in Cyclo-Défi for the fight against cancer to be held between the cities of Montreal and Quebec. She has already reached her objective of $2,500. She will also take part in Défi Voyage on Saturday, August 21 – another Montreal-Quebec journey intended to raise funds for underprivileged kids to visit Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
Jennifer Tinkler has been living in LaSalle for the last two years and works as a stewardess with Air Canada Jazz.“I had this desire to buy my first bike in 2003. I had my first bike accident last Fall when I slipped on a metal bridge, suffering a fracture on one hand. But nothing will stop me with my new bike, I’m ready for these two challenges.
Jennifer Tinkley has already reached her objective of $2,500. “I also recruited two other cyclists in my team for a total collection of $7,500. Proceeds will go to the Jewish General Hospital of Montreal and to Quebec’s University Hospital.”
Jennifer decided to register for the Défi-Vélo Voyage de rêve challenge. “It’s a non-profit organisation helping almost 150 underprivileged kids in their mental, physical and social lives. The organism gives them the chance to visit Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Our goal is to ride for about 300 kilometres to raise funds – that’s the distance between Montreal and Quebec in one day. Last year, we gave a cheque for $58,000. We are relying on the public’s assistance to exceed our $60,000 objective.”
Rain or shine, about 60 cyclists will hit the road on Saturday, August 21 and head for Quebec. Even the smallest donation can help reach the goal. Receipts will be issued. To make a contribution, visit the web site at: www.canadahelps.org/GivingPages/GivingPage.aspx?gpID=7382.
