Vibrant colours at Vic Hall
The current exhibition in the Gallery at Victoria Hall features colourful, abstract art from three local women — Anna Gedalof, Teresa Maglietta, and Paola Ridolfi.

The paintings displayed explore themes ranging from everyday items to the link between childhood and maturity, each reflecting the artist’s unique biography.

Gedalof is returning to art after many years in the publishing world. She says that picking up a paint brush to create her eye-catching abstract geometric shapes makes her feel “like a kid again." She finds the artistic process liberating, saying there is “no adult logic required.”

Maglietta expresses her Italian heritage in her art, using Italian text in her images. Born in Rome, she moved to Montreal in the 80s, and is currently studying studio arts at Concordia. Her work examines the connection between ancestry and modern life.

Ridolfi comes from an architectural design background, and her work combines computer design with traditional painting. Like Maglietti, she incorporates text into her art, which she describes as Japanese-influenced abstracts.

The joint exhibition of Anna Gedalof, Teresa Magliette and Paola Ridolfi continues in the Gallery at Victoria Hall, 4626 Sherbrooke St. W., through Dec. 12. For more information, 514-989-5226.
