His poor brother Wishy Washy is never as popular as Aladdin (sigh) and really wishes he had a girlfriend. Widow Twankey, their mum has her sights on …….well anything that moves really. Enter Flung Dung, head of the Imperial Guard and entrusted by the Emperor “His Royal Flushness” to keep an eye out for Princess Jasmine. But who has Princess Jasmine got her eyes on? Well, Aladdin of course! Aladdin too is so smitten – no absolutely gob-smacked for Princess Jasmine. Ah, true love always find its way. But all good stories have a villain. Enter Abanazer, who emerges from the shadows and is the nastiest and most profoundly evil bad guy EVER. PERIOD. Abanazer wants to trick Aladdin in to finding the magical lamp and the genie who lives inside the lamp.
Starting this weekend you can catch Aladdin at the Centaur as part of the Children’s Series and at St. George’s Anglican Church.
Aladdin is a hilarious pantomime with all the traditional theatrical conventions that is unique to pantomime - audience participation, the usual slapstick moments, and the very risqué double entendres.
